The Alexandra David-Néel Cultural Center, which regroups the Alexandra David-Néel's Museum, the association of children sponsorship and the tibetan shop, was founded on July 31, 1977, after the famous explorer's death who lived some thirty years in Digne, in the course of three stays. The main goals of this association and its administrative structure are :
Poursuing and circulating Alexandra David-Néel's works ;Providing assistance to Tibetan children and refugees through sponsorship in the context of "Entraide et Echanges Culturels Franco-Tibétains (Franco Tibetan cultural exchanges and mutual assistance), which manages this humanitarian program (brochure on request) ;Organizing cultural events illustrating the various aspects of this very ancient tradition ;Providing the teaching of Buddhism by prominent Tibetan masters ;Making the author's archives and the documents she collected and wrote available to researchers. Commented and guided tours of Alexandra David-Néel's house, where are to be found the museum and the head office of the association, are organised every days of the year at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. precisely (approximate duration 2h). The tours and every activities are free and open to everybody. |
